Business Intelligence
Business intelligence applications are systems that are developed to furnish the management with the capability to view the current summary information at any moment as required by the decision support mechanism.
Analytical data is distinguished from operational data to create a data warehouse with the purpose of obtaining fast results. Thus, as the load of operational processes remains in the database, the load of analysis processes and their entirely diverse mechanism is moved to the data warehouse.
Analytical data are cubes that comprise many different dimensions. They enable queries at any desired dimension and instant modification of the perspective.
All reports can be viewed by visual charts on the BI dashboard (Portal) before the details are listed. Details can be reviewed by accessing the sub-dimensions of the summary with the help of the drill down method.
Let’s assume, as an example, that we prepare a sales analysis at the regional dimension. We will be able to immediately view the regions that remain below their targeted amounts in diverse visual expressions on our monitor. In case any region displays a problem, we can move to the city dimension with a single command and view the cities and even districts of the problem region in detail on the same chart, again in a visual format. We can further view the problematic and/or flagship products in these cities, and instantly review the product dimension independent of cities or regions.
